Kaun sacha hai, kaun jhoota hai?
Aik zaheen aadmi, jis ka zehen ilm-o-tarbiyat se aarasta tha, aik din aik gaaon mein aaya. Us ka iraada tha; aik fikri mashq aur tahqeeqi mutala’ay ke taur par wahaa’n ke logo’n ke mukhtalif nuqta-haaye nazar ka muwazna kray.
Woh sraaye mein gya aur wahaan ke logo’n se gaao’n ke sab se zyaada sachay aur sab se brray jhootay shakhs ke baaray mein daryaaft kiya. Wahaan maujood sabhi afraad is baat par muttafiq the; ’Kazzaab‘ naami shakhs gaaon ka sab se brra jhoota aur ’Raast-gau‘ sab se zyaada sacha insaan hai.
Us ne baari baari in donon se mulaqaat ki aur har aik se aik saada sa swaal kiya:
’’Aglay gaaon tak puhanchnay ka behtareen rasta kaun sa hai?‘‘
’Raast-gu‘, jo hamesha sach bolta tha, bola;
’’Pahaari rasta.‘‘
’Kazzaab‘ jo jhoota tha, us ne bhi yehi jwaab diya;
’’Pahaari rasta.‘‘
Zahir hai, is baat ne is musafir ko uljan mein daal diya. Us ne chand aur logon se bhi yehi swaal kiya, jo aam dehaati thay.
Kuch ne kaha;
’’Darya ke rastay se jaao.‘‘
Kuch ne jwaab diya;’’Khaito’n ke paar se.‘
Jab ke kuch afraad ne yehi kahaa;
’’Pahaari rasta.‘‘
Bil-aakhir, us ne pahaari rasta ikhtiyaar kiya. Magar apne safar ki manzil ke saath saath, usay gaaon ke sachay aur jhootay afraad ki yeh gutthi bhi pareshan karti rahi.
Jab woh agle gaaon puhancha aur musafir-khaanay mein baithay logon ko apna qissa sunaaya tau us ne baat yahaan khatam ki;
’’Ghaliban mainay aik bunyaadi mantiqi ghalti ki thi. Mainay sachay aur jhootay aadmi ke naam hi ghalat afraad se pooch liye thay. Bahar-haal main yahaan ’pahaari rastay‘ se aasaani se puhanch gya hoon.‘‘
Wahan maujood aik dana shakhs kehnay laga;
’’Maan-na prray ga, mantiqi afraad aksar aik khaas tarah ke andhay-punn ka shikar hotay hain aur unhein doosro’n se madad leni parrti hai. Magar yahaan maamla kuch aur hai.
Sach yehi hai; darya ka rasta sab se aasaan tha. Isi liye jhootay shakhs ne pahaari rastay ka mashwra diya. Lekin sacha aadmi sirf sacha hi nahi tha, us ne yeh bhi dekha ke aap ke paas aik gadhaa bhi hai, jis ke saath pahaari safar mushkil nahi rahay ga.
Doosri taraf jhoota aadmi is baat par ghaur na kar ska ke aap ke paas kashti nahi hai; warna woh aap ko darya ka rasta hi btaata.‘‘
’Naam‘ ki sachaee, sachaee nahi rehti
Jab hum kisi cheez par naam ka ’label‘ laga letay hain tai us cheez ko dekhna chhor daitay hain. Sirf us ke ’label‘ par tawajjo detay hain.
J. Krishnamurti ka istadlaal hai; jis din aap bachay ko kisi parinday ka ’naam‘ sikha dein gay, bacha us parinday ko phir kabhi (haqeeqat mein) nahi dekh paaye ga.
Jab tak bacha parinday ka naam nahi jaanta, woh usay aik zinda, mutaharrik aur pur-asrar makhlooq ke taur par parakhta hai. Naam seekhnay ke baad, ab woh sirf ’naam‘ dekhay ga. Parinday ka wajood, us ki khusoosiyat, us ki infraadiyat; sab naam ke peechay kho jayen gi.
Yeh zaroori hai ke hum cheezon ko un ke ’naamo’n‘ aur ’labels‘ se pray bhi dekhna seekhein. Hum apne ird-gird logo’n ko bhi un ke naamo’n, ohdo’n aur maazi ke hwaalo’n se jaantay hain, is tarah hum un ki maujooda aur zinda haqeeqat dekh nahi paatay. Aur phir yehi dukh hmaare hissay mein aata hai.

Tahqeeq aur mushaahiday ke baghair logo’n par ’sachay‘ aur ’jhootay‘ ka label laga kar hum haqeeqat tak rasaai hasil nahi kar saktay. Sach ki raah mein bohat brri rukaawat ’ilm ka waham‘ bhi hota hai; yani apni adhoori maloomat par yaqeen kar lena.
Musafir ka zehen mantiqi tau tha, magar mushahidaati nahi tha. Sach jaan-nau ke liye usay mantiq ke saath, mushahiday aur tajurbay ki bhi zaroorat thi.
Dana shakhs ne musafir ki isi aham ghalti ki wajah se us ki mantiq par tanz kiya tha.

Sachaee koi jaamad cheez nahi, balkeh yeh mushahiday, niyat aur haalaat ke imtizaj ka naam hai. Koi safar kitna tweel hai, yeh mahz us rastay ne faisla nahi karna balkeh; aap ke paas zaad-e-raah kya hai, manzil par puhanchnay ki lagan kitni hai, aur phir chalnay ki raftaar kaisi hai; yeh sab tay karain gay ke aap ka rasta kitna dushwar-guzar hai.
Musafir is uljan mein tha; sachay aur jhootay ka jwaab aik jaisa kaisay ho sakta hai? Woh is baat se be-khabar tha; sach ka inhisar haalaat par bhi hota hai. Ibn-e-Sina ka qaul hai: ’’Kisi cheez ka ilm us waqt tak mukammal nahi hota, jab tak us ki wujoohaat maloom na hon.‘‘
Naqsha zameen nehi hota
Alfred Korzybski ka mauqif hai;
’Naqsha zameen nahi hota. Zameen ko jaan-nay ka wahid rasta, us rastay par chalna hai.‘
Google Maps par rasta dekhna ’ilm‘ hai, lekin is rastay par khud chaltay huay, us ke nashaib-o-fraaz ka amli tajurba kar ke hi hum haqeeqat-e-matlaq se aashna ho saktay hain.
